(08-13) 04:00 PDT San Francisco -- Police are investigating the fatal street shooting of a man late Monday night in the Western Addition neighborhood less than two blocks from City Hall.

The unidentified victim was approached by several suspects at 10:21 p.m. on the 600 block of McAllister Street, police said. One opened fire before they all fled on foot.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No arrests have been made, police said.

You think they will report something as routine as a murder in SF? They are also under counting.

It was up for about an hour on the main page this morning but in small print. Then, as always, it was moved to the Bay Area section and pushed all the way to the bottom of the page. Don't scare the tourists!

Yeah, it wasn't Tuesday morning either. It was at approximately 11pm on Monday evening. The local news outlets didn't report on it until the following morning.

I was able to see the aftermath from my apartment window. It's disturbing because I get off the bus at McAllister and Gough all the time.

a father on his way back from work-Latino immigrant. group of African-American men shot at him. hope this was not a hate crime... for all the "bad" things the chronicle says about immigrants...no coverage when the victim is Latino, eh?
