SFPD Crimemap mystery

Well here's something I've noticed...

The SFPD's crimemaps were already a little frustrating to use, what with information that only goes back 90 days, and no ability to look at statistics for the city as a whole...but it's been taken a step further. The ability to search for homicides has been removed. Arson, rape, robbery, larceny, etc, etc, it's all there. But you can no longer search for murders. It's been this way for at least a month it seems. Not too sure what the reason is behind this, but it's sort of a coincidence when you take this year's record murder rate into account...

I want to see the SF car break-in stats. It'd look like someone spilled jar of red pepper seeds on the map.

there's nothing for car break-ins specifically, but in the past 90 days 1892 cars have been stolen in SF. There have also been 6294 larceny/thefts reported, a large part of which have to be car break-ins...Also, in 2006 there was an average of 43 car break-ins a day in SF. As of August of this year, there were supposedly 32 break-ins a day. these are just reported incidents though.

Rah, so if the SFPD crime map does no longer record homicides, where does the public obtain an accurate homicide count? It seems to me that the San Francisco homicide count is the subject of great consternation among San Francisco officials. I can't understand why the media allows itself to be complicit in this obvious attempt to prevent the public from obtaining accurate homicide numbers for San Francisco. I remember some years ago the City of Philadelphia was fudging its homicide and crime statistics. This was eventually exposed to the great embarrassment of city officials. The same thing is happening in San Francisco. The only difference is that currently the media is being complicit in the public deception regarding San Francisco homicide numbers.
