Shootings and Stabbings Increasing

In 2007 there were 234 gunshot victims and 208 stab victims brought to SF General Hospital, the City's lone trauma ward. I seem to remember that in 2001 there were just 81 gunshot victims treated at SF General Hospital. Anyways, this graphic here tells it all, from 2003 through 2007, with numbers of patients, and the number of those patients that died from their wounds at the hospital. The full story is in the Examiner.

This is insane. On so many levels.

No no, this is sane. We just need to arm ourselves and make sure we are the ones doing the shooting and not the ones getting shot!

and what about the ones that arent reported? i seem to recall reading something that sf general hospital cannot even keep track of all the patients that come in with gunshot and stab wounds. just because someone isnt killed or wounded, doesnt mean there are even more shootings. we also must acknowlage that more than ever, the treatment for these types of injuries has advanvced. the trueth today is that guns are a comodity, they dont hold the threat that they used to. you would be suprised how much goes unreported
