SF: 17-YEAR-OLD BOY KILLED IN THURSDAY NIGHT SHOOTING
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN)
A 17-year-old boy was the victim of a fatal shooting Thursday night in San Francisco, according to the San Francisco medical examiner's office.
San Francisco police responded to a shooting near the intersection of Turk and Gough streets at about 8 p.m.
The victim, identified by the medical examiner's office as Marquise Washington, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The medical examiner's office is still trying to confirm where Washington resided, an investigator said.

I knew marquise. or i guess worked with him would be a more apt description. he wasn't a bad person, he had hopes just like the rest of us. it'd be possible to gather together facts about his background and his lifestyle and say his being murdered wasn't a complete surprise. the odds were against him and he made them longer with some of his choices...but that isn't any reason to further speculate into what is now his past tense life. i hope he rests in peace, at the least he deserves that.

I head of Marquise Washington's death - minutes after it happened. My 19 year old son called me and was clearly upset. He lived close by and saw Marquise on the ground. As a mother, I cannot explain in words how deeply Marquise's death has affected me and my family. I cried and prayed all night for his untimely death and for the safety of my son. I am deeply disheartened by the lack of respect posted by people on this site. Marquise was a young man who had a life that was taken away from him. That I know and that is what saddened me the day he died and still to this day. My condolences to his family, friends and especially his loving mother.
As for the first person to post here - your ignorance and racist comments are a stain on your soul. You should be ashamed of yourself. You know nothing about a person but yet you sit in your hell hole and make hateful bigoted comments when most people who first find out a young man has died is saddened for the loss of a young soul. I hope God has it in his heart to forgive you, only you will know. As for Marquise Washington, I didn't know you, but I pray your soul rest in peace and that your family heals from their tragic loss of your presence in their lives. Heaven knows the love and gentle spirit that resides in you will be missed by those who loved you.

Has anybody been arrested for this? I was half a block up when it happened, and I could see that there where lots of witnesses. Seems like someone would have seen the car. I'm not sure, but I think it was a purple chevy camero.

God Bless Marquise Washington and I pray heals his family's sorrow. For those family members who have read the hateful comments above, please disregard them as ignorant people with no compassion, heart or soul. They do not deserve your time or energy. Instead, share Marquise's story with the world. Let his life live on in memory.

Anonymous #1 - You're an a$$! Instead of all of the negative stereotyping, put your energy towards finding a solution to this problem which is ALL OF OURS! My condolences go out to Marquise's family. I'm an old friend of his uncle Sean, and you're all in my prayers. My son and Quise have known each other since preschool, it's heartbreaking to hear that another of our brilliant young men have been so senselessly taken from us all too soon.

Bottom line... I've posted around the 2nd of March or so concerning killings this year... as each one could have been preventable... (you might not believe but I do)
