One more murder

Hugues De La Plaza, 36, was stabbed to death on July 2nd, in his apartment on Linden Street in Hayes Valley. Originally reported as "a possible homicide" by the SFPD, and as a suicide by the medical examiner, the case is actually being investigated as a homicide. Both by the SFPD and French police, as requested by De La Plaza's parents, who are French citizens. He is now listed as homicide number 56.

And here's an alarming statistic (taken from the Hugues De La Plaza Blog):

Here's a statistic you could use:
From 2004 through August 2006, San Francisco had 253 Homicides; only one person was convicted. (This statistic comes from a Legislative Analyst's report commissioned by San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi)

Only one conviction! That foesn't surprise me at all. If it isn't a slam dunk your DA won't prosecute. Look at the drug deaths that are also possible murders. The laws of the US don't apply to San Francisco!
